Enduring Nation

Featuring interviews with academic and community experts, “Enduring Nation: Episode 1” explores the resilience and unity of the Chickasaw people, tracing their journey from ancient origins to the American Revolution. This exciting first installment of a new four-part documentary series, produced by Chickasaw Nation Productions, follows Muskogean creation and migration narratives, the rise of Mississippian mound societies and the Chickasaws’ first encounter with Europeans during Hernando de Soto's infamous expedition in December 1540. Global conflicts and European expansion arrive in the Chickasaw Homeland through French and English trade in the late 1600s, culminating in the French-Chickasaw Wars (1721-1763), in which the Chickasaw people repeatedly overcame overwhelming French forces. A brief period of peace follows, only to end with the ignition of the American Revolution in 1775.
